Welcome to The Domestikated Life!
I’m Kate. I began blogging in May 2014 after I graduated from the University of South Carolina as a public health undergraduate. Just two weeks after graduation, I married my boyfriend/fiance of 5+ years. In May 2016, I graduated from Winthrop University with a Masters of Science in Human Nutrition. Fall of 2016 I will begin my dietetic internship to complete my journey to be an RD.
I’m very open & candid about my life. My hope is that sharing my life will be of some value to you. I know for me, reading about the experiences of others has helped me work through darker periods of my life. From ages 15-20 I battled anorexia and depression. You can read parts of that story here and here. By the grace of God and a whole lot therapy, I’ve found true recovery and freedom. On this blog you will see some posts on topics related to mental health and food freedom. I also like to talk about my marriage from time-to-time. My husband, Terry, is a youth pastor. We also have a dog named Jules.
I’m at home in the kitchen, laying in the sunshine, and snuggling on the couch with Terry watching TV. I enjoy working out, especially if it involves listening to podcasts or chatting with friends.

*While I do have a degree in nutrition and I am working towards becoming an RD, the purpose of this blog is to share my experiences, not prescribe or recommend any sort of treatment.
